    Description

    Great original antique c1900 "J.H. Edwards  Methuen  Lic. 39" taxi service / dairy sign. The sign is from the J.H. Edwards company and I see they were involved in both the dairy business and a taxi service which ran in Methuen, Massachusetts. I have not been able to find much information with the exception of a couple references to the company online and it looks to have been in business starting around 1890 and continuing into the 1930's. If you have any further information please feel free to contact me, your help is always appreciated. The sign is hand lettered on metal with a one piece wooden backing with heavy steel straps and bolts. It has very nice rustic details and craftsmanship. The sign measures approx. 23" wide x 11 1/4" high x 1" thick. The sign has not been restored and is in its original state. The sign was hanging in a private garage in Lawrence, MA for the last 80 plus years, untouched.
    It in very good all original condition with only normal wear consistent with its age and use, otherwise no breaks or repairs. - (please view all photos for the best representation of quality and condition).
