    Description

This beautiful mirror- finished Railroad car Builder Plate was part of the commissioned nameplate production run for Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority railcars manufactured by Amerail for MBTA.  Is in original mint condition and is NOT a reproduction. Amerail of Hornell, New York was the successor company to Morris Knudsen (in about 1995) and was a short time later bought by Alstom of France.  Because the company operated under the name of "Amerail" for such a very short period of time, it it a difficult plate to find and is much sought after.
The highly polished mirror finish on heavyweight solid stainless steel has a thickness of almost .075 inches.  Dimensions are 7" x 4 1/8"  (at its highest point) with polished edges and radius cornered with four drilled holes for mounting.  The graphics are deep acid etched into the stainless steel and color filled with black, and blue, with an unusual toned logo reaching upwards toward infinity.  The amazing mirror surface is difficult to photograph, but is evident in photo #3!
This plate is a wonderful combination of metal graphics, railroad history, and design.
